New Stitchers-lovely stitching

Lets get this straight from the start, I can take NO credit for this work!! Lesley started the beading 8, yes 8 years ago and it is a spectacular UFO (Un Finnished Object)!!
However, she has now found some time with her new baby, to come along and join our crafting group in the Children's Centre, hurray!
I have advised that she doesn't cover the whole flower, which was the original plan, but just highlights areas. This will add more depth to the work and save hours of time.

I have also suggested that she mounts it in a circular embroidery frame and then it will make a beautiful gift for a lucky member of her family!

Olivia's first venture into sewing and she has made a delightful 'Eskimo' character, just lovely. NB, I am probably not allowed to say Eskimo anymore, but I cannot think of another way of describing this lovely 'wool clothed' little person!

Emma is new to the class and has not sewn before, but she is amazing me and herself with this group of animals: first was the fish, then the cat.

Then the cheese (which her husband does not think it looks like cheese, but I think it does here). The 'cheese' was closely followed by a mouse and a sausage dog - great work.

Leanne decided to make a mobile for her son and has worked really well the project. Her stitching has become more confident over the weeks.

She is now working on another small project to practice her stitching even more, before embarking on something larger, great work and growing with confidence each week.

Lots of fab work here

Wednesday afternoon is continuing to inspire and delight:

Nasreen stitched and stuffed a quick ladybug pin cushion in a couple of sessions - she does look cute!
Audrey is making a lovely mobile from this great book for beginners, she started off using it as a design for an embroidery a bib for a new baby and is enjoying stitching these lovely characters.

Dawn is continuing her cushion with a teddy, the technique she is using works really well- fabric pens to draw and colour the design with embroidery to give detail and depth to the picture. Lots more planned for this one, come back soon!

Michelle's blanket has now got a ribbon edge and she is planning to make a beanbag to math this theme, good bold work.

If you twist your head (sorry!) you can see this finished quilt! Weyhey!! Well done Dawn, just lovely :-)
Keep twisting! This is Carly's Thomas inspired quilt, stitched in record time, I am really impressed with her 'can do' attitude, the ideas just keep on coming and Carly just gets on with them. Good work and planning the next project, I think she is hooked!

So, I am doing my best to keep up with these busy stitchers. Lots of great work and ideas and they all bounce off each other, an inspiring lot I hope you agree.

Collage and craft

The new stitching group on a Wednesday morning are very keen each week to try something different,  this week we made some scrap fabric flowers for our collage.  Playing around with different thread, buttons and beads.
They also try a bit of 'home work' each week to make as much as they can in the time we have, great work girls.....
This is the collage so far, lovely use of different techniques and detail, I have tried to balance the design.  We are planning more animals, a pond, a sun and some clouds......watch this space.
M worked had to finish her tractor and trailor for her son.  He wasn't happy in the creche last week, but he cheered up when he saw what had been made for him.  This week, he had a very happy time.  The hand puppets were made by his big sisters at home and M finished them off, great teamwork.
J is making a mobile for a new baby in their family.  She has lovely ideas for detail and her stitching is very neat, we have asked for a bird for the collage, thank you J! :-)
E has never stitched before, in the first week she was getting very frustrated with herself, just with threading the needle.  After 3 weeks, her confidence has grown and her work is neat and bold.  A great use of colour and detail, well done E!

Felt fish

These little lovelies started life as a mobile for the downstairs loo.  Looking at one of my obscure 70's crafting books, E started to plan her new fishes.  She took them home to finish cutting the layers and  was suddenly inspired and got completely carried away with the embroidery. They have now been promoted to the lounge!
